Alykes is one of the most beautiful places in Thassos island. It is a small peninsula that forms two beautiful beaches, ideal for swimming and fishing. At the edge of the sandy beach there are small taverns where the traveler can taste fresh fish, any kind of seafood, well-cooked Greek cuisine.

Alykes have a rich ancient history and this is evidenced by the archaeological finds from the 7th century BC. The Alykes peninsula is considered to be the oldest quarry in Thassos. Since that time marble were extracted from Alykes. The quarry was exactly near to the sea so it was easy to transport the marble.
